donkeyman, I'm no expert but I do know that there is a considerable difference between a macro and a 1 carat diamond. I have followed the Saskatchewan diamond play for a few years now through Kensington Resources (V.KRT). They have recovered *many* macro diamonds, and those were macros using the Debeers standard of 1mm in 2 dimensions... as opposed to the 0.5mm in one dimension standard commonly used by juniors. Of all of those *many* macros they have recovered I believe that the largest was around 1 carat. So when they can have hundred(s) of macros that are defined by 1mm in 2 dimensions, but the largest diamond is around 1 carat in size... it seems to be obvious that a macro is considerably larger than a carat....

It has been a while since I have reviewed KRT's news releases but I seem to recall that diamonds in the .3 carat range were also mentioned (and were considered macros)... so my guess would be that diamonds even in the .1 carat range are macros....? ... especially using the 0.5mm standard...

I guess the bottom line would be that you can't judge if the diamonds are a carat plus by the macro count...

Once again though, I stress that I am not an expert in this area.. I'm just trying to pass on what I seem to recall from reading past news releases from KRT.
