I do not know the holding in Globalstar, but the following info.
Alcatel has a twofold involvement , as a supplier os satellite payload, and the ground station I think.
Also as investor, with France Telecom they have set up TESAM. TESAM is Globalstar service provider in numerous countries, France (obviously), but also several African countries, Latin american countries and a few others.
Alcatel has another exciting project called Skybridge (more like Teledesic, but like Globalstar vs Iridium, cheaper and I think smarter- because cheap). It is the main sponsor, but is developping it with Loral. Some Japanese firms Hitashi, Sharp and Mitsubishi have contributed also (limited investment I think). I hope it will fly, but it remains to be seen whether financing can be secured completely. |
