Tenchusatsu & Thread: Intel's Thin Servers discussed on Public Radio

Sub-$1000 "thin servers" were the topic on John Dvorak (sp?) yesterday. The guy that headed Intel's Thin Server Division talked of inexpensive, small (the size of a videocasette or 1/2 that size) thin servers that can be stacked like books on a shelf.

I listened but want to hear more. Anyone have actual first-hand knowledge/use of such a server?

Intel is already acknowledging that not everyone will have their own CPU on their desk, so the demise of the PC is not that crazy. Intel will be a part of whatever evolves but I don't think we're exclusively talking about faster and faster desktops.

BTW Price? $300 and up, depending on functionality.
