FedEx discusses strike possibility (from their website)

Memphis, TN (Oct. 30, 1998) Recent news reports have brought
attention to the contract talks between FedEx and our pilots,
represented by the Fedex Pilots Association (FPA). We will continue to
provide you with regular updates on this site.

FedEx pilots will continue to fly their scheduled flights -- the
FPA board's decision to decline overtime flying will not
affect service.
On October 23rd, the FPA board announced a policy to begin
declining overtime flying, effective November 9th. Overtime flying
constitutes a small percentage of FedEx air operations. FedEx
pilots will continue to fly their scheduled flights. In addition, FedEx contingency plans will enable us to continue to provide our
reliable, high-quality service to our customers. This announcement
was anticipated as part of the negotiation process.

FedEx will continue to provide the service our customers
count on -- you can ship via FedEx with confidence.
Before and after November 9th, FedEx will continue to provide
the rapid, reliable express delivery services you value and expect from us. Our money-back guarantees will remain in effect. We
want you, our customers, to know that our pilots will continue to
fly their scheduled flights. More than 40,000 vehicles will be on
the road. More than 43,000 FedEx stations, World Service
Centers and drop off locations and all package sorting facilities will operate as usual. All FedEx employees will continue to
provide the service you count on.

FedEx has contingency plans to safeguard service for our
customers. Fundamental to our day-to-day operations are the contingency plans we have in place to respond to severe weather, natural disasters and other events that could affect customer service. FedEx has extensive contingency plans, including plans for this situation, that allow us to provide a variety of solutions to handle your shipping needs. Our reputation for service reliability is founded on doing everything possible to deliver for our customers. FedEx remains hopeful that an agreement can be reached
and is committed to the negotiation process.
FedEx remains hopeful that an agreement can be reached that
