Hello Grant,

God's own word provides how secure we are in the Holy Spirit once the Lord has worked His miracle of salvation in the believer.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

Romans 8

25 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Grant, I will openly rebuke this girl in the name of Christ and would question her motivation unless she is just speaking foolishly without knowledge and choosing bad terminology not knowing it's implications. As I read your post the above verses immediately came to mind as well as the following...

Ezekiel 14

17 Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them,

22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:
23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

Old Testament... the Spirit of the Lord did depart from some and came upon some, Saul and Samson are good examples.

After Christ's redemptive work on the cross we now have the Holy Spirit indwelling us permanently. This is the Comforter that Jesus promised us. We have a distinctive blessing in the new covenant that God has made with us through Christ.

I am more than a little upset with this girls comment to you and her rapid departure. Satan cannot change what the Lord has done with you once you have sought forgiveness for sin and trusted in Jesus to save you, but he will do his best to mess with the new and the old Christian's mind and testimony wherever possible.
Tread cautiously in charismatic groups and prove the spirits that you will encounter. We are warned of wolves in sheep's clothing, and even well intentioned Christians can lead others astray by speaking without knowledge or allowing vanity to get in the way.

God bless you Grant, His hand is on you, study to make yourself a workman approved unto God as His word says and remember His armour that He provides us in Ephesians 6:10-17 it is not figurative.

In Christ,
John
