Harold, your post was very interesting inasmuch as it means that IZP basically gave up on Apanol because it was too difficult to synthesize. Finding a new analogue is almost like starting from scratch--all the preliminary work they did on Apanol has to be done over again on this new compound. Granted, I haven't been keeping too close tabs on the company, but I read through their annual report and did not get any indication that they changed horses midstream. Am I the only one that didn't know? I think what got me and everyone else excited initially is that Apanol appeared to be both effective and non-toxic. This new compound is a wild-card: different absorption in the body, different metabolism, different therapeutic efficacy, different toxicity--it's basically a different drug.

Just ruminating here, but I wonder if politics played any role in the changeover--i.e. perhaps Dr. Salari had a legal claim to Apanol and IZP began looking for another compound to avoid future legal battles. Whatever is really going on, I'm still long this company and hopeful about the underlying science.

I also am happy to see the strongly-worded response to the reports of improprieties. It won't mean much, however, if the SEC feels they have a legal case against IZP. The SEC has been on a rampage recently and they don't give a rat's a__ about the extremely damaging effects their indictments have upon the small and often very vulnerable companies they're investigating.

Best to all.
