John, I guess 3G-W-CDMA-VW-SETI-UMTS didn't cut it! I tried cutting the UMTS out, but still it didn't 'take'. WD40 is taking somebody's good name and using it in vain. WD40 is a reputable product. But to convey the same idea, how about VW40, abbreviated from VapourWear40. That way we retain the snake oil connotation, while showing the King has no clothes and still being succinct. I guess Volkswagen would feel the VW is unfair, but then, the VW started at the time of the real Nazis and we are now dealing with the GSM Nazis. Covers the lies, propaganda, confiscation of private property, statism and the great collective "We, the telecommunications industry, cannot let one company stand in the way of VW40" concepts nicely.

PS: Re the next post, thanks Engineer. Now THAT's not vapourwear. And silly Rajala and Tero thought that Australia would be GSM forever. People said it's too hard to take over from GSM. Well, here it comes. Telstra too is going cdmaOne in Oz. New Zealand will soon follow. Telstra wants to be big here. GSM, TDMA and analog are all going to have some real competition here soon. Then Globalstar will come over the top and we'll have national cdmaOne coverage, even for deer stalkers and trout fishermen in lonely valleys and distant rivers, for yachties and pilots calling "Mayday" so long drawn out search and rescue efforts are a thing of the past.
