Same arguments as BOS?

Glenn, when I listen to the AMZN bulls (including JJ Cramer, an October bear in AMZN), they believe valuation is based on AMZN capturing entire retail segment and putting physical retailers out of business.

I remember the same arguments being made about Boston Chicken. They were going to capture the entire meal replacement market, their food was better than Burger King and Mcdonald's, their revneues were ramping at a tremendous rate, etc. BOS also started new intiatives in related areas (e.g., bagels) in the same way AMZN is getting into CDs and software. BOS had a similar model, selling large portions of food at very low levels, at a loss even, to gain market share.

BOS was undone by negative cashflow, negative return on assets. BOS still brings in a lot of revenue as we speak, but they are bankrupt.
