I like CMVT as much as always, but if you were broke, would you have a cell phone? I've never had one & don't know how that market works. Do phone companies sell them cheap and make the money on calls?

i've got one, but i'm by no means an expert on the market. while i don't think this announcement is that significant, i think the point is to allow cellular providers to tap into the credit-card-less market, be it high schoolers or other youth, as opposed to the "broke." the key may reside in the last sentence: "telephone calls can be blocked when the account balance has expired, reducing the operator's liability."

given the number of credit card defaulters, it sounds like an insurance policy of sorts for service providers.
