Sadly, you did not answer the question. Simply stating that W-CDMA has been designed to be "seamlessly incorporated with existing GSM networks" does not make the statement true. How can you opine so forcefully in the absence of technical specificity?

You and I have had this debate before, so I will not let you off the hook so easily. GSM is a network protocol that is currently connected to a TDMA-based air interface. The fact that QC demonstrated an IS-95 overlay on a GSM network should illustrate the lines of separation. You have accepted as gospel the words of Saint Ericsson without considering that the possibility that W-CDMA is nothing more than a retooled and proprietary (to European manufacturers) flavor of the IS-95 air interface. Now don't you think it is in ERICY's interest to brainwash everyone with this dogma? Wouldn't the world be a lot less comfortable for Ericsson if the company had come out and said that it was migrating GSM to an IS-95 based air-interface? Tero, if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has feathers like a duck, lays eggs like a duck and swims like a duck, isn't it probable that it actually IS a duck? ERICY simply painted the duck blue and called it a swan...and lots of well-meaning, technically unsophisticated people have accepted the story at face value. It's really kind of sad.

Tero...sometimes I believe that you would think the world to be flat if ERICY said so.
