What does Ampex's keepering patent mean? If IBM can produce what sounds like an identical technology, then wouldn't the patent either be meaningless of infringed upon? I would be interested to know if anyone can confirm the earlier posts stating that IBM was recently supplying platters to Ampex for testing.
