O.T. - "low flush" (1.6 gallon flush) toilets

Incidentally, Dave Barry, in today's local paper, wrote that Canada should be invaded by the USA because they are selling toilets with large flush volumes to Americans who are legally only allowed 1.6 gallons or something. I thought his article was a riot.

I have not yet seen Dave Barry's latest on toilets, but, when he wrote about the same topic a year or so ago, I think he said (a week or two later) that that column on "low flush" toilets had triggered the most mail of any column ever !

Do you know that the reason "our government" forced these poorly functioning toilets upon us is -- in a whole year, using average water cost figures, a low flush model will save something like $59 worth of water ? (I have no idea what quantity of water that translates into).

Do you know the going rate for a plumber to fix a plumbing problem (or, to install a Canadian toilet) ?

Jon.
