I agree, Maurice, that the percentage of Americans
that know what "Direct Connect" is is very small.
That's unfortunate for Nextel, a company with
rights to tons of spectrum. "Direct Connect"
is a feature which allows Nextel users to instantly
contact other Nextel users (without dialing), and
without having to pay fees to Ma Bell. The reason
Nextel can give its users such a huge "local calling
area" is that they own all the towers.
