Your comment on positioning is astute and can't be underestimated. ATHM is sewing it up worldwide as evidenced by the joint venture with INTC, Castel, and Patel, in Nederland. The positioning has been going on for a year here and in various countries and recently has intensified. The jackals will try to pull the company down with their cacophony of mob fairness, but if TCI and T remain adamant in their refusal to accept telephone carrier status for broadband, the running dogs will be defeated. SBC has now joined the pack. More will follow. More companies are also joining the ranks of associates in ATHM. Armageddon is approaching.
The outcome will be a protracted battle in court that goes all the way up. During that time ATHM can continue to evolve, and at the same time, the pack will remain locked out. TCI would have to go it alone, but the government can't stop ATT from lending TCI money to proceed with the build-out. Even if they don't, the word is out and TCI has no other recourse but to do what it takes to get its plant rigged to HFC. The merger stays on ice while ATHM grows and becomes entrenched.
