Dan -
I don't have any more detail on this story than what you sent, but I had heard this particular tale before. The tie-in to per-processor licensing was just that MSFT (Kempin in particular) was extremely aggressive at that time on various arrangements with OEMs (who says MSFT is not innovative?), so there was a mindset which could well have included the Vobis scheme. But I would like to see more detail on exactly what was said, and I hope that comes out in the court evidence.
