More royalties for The Q: November 02, 1998, Issue: 1133 Section: Communications Siemens Rolls Out CDMA-Handset ICs Siemens Microelectronics Inc., Cupertino, Calif., has entered the CDMA cellular chip market with the introduction of two RF ICs for the fast-growing IS-95 and JSTD-008 digital wireless standards. Designed for use in CDMA digital cellular handsets, Siemens' transmitter and receiver devices feature a fully integrated quadrature modulator/demodulator and an integrated amplifier with a 105-dB gain range. The 2.7- to 4.5-V devices also include CDMA/FM-mode switching and an intermediate-frequency range of 40 to 300 MHz. Offered in 28-pin TSSOPs, the new CDMA chips are sampling now, with volume production slated for the third quarter of 1999. Prices were not disclosed. Copyright ® 1998 CMP Media Inc.
