Well, it looks like Mr. Gates and company are not deterred in continuing with bully strong-arm tactics - even in light of the DOJ case against them. Talk about arrogance.

An inside source of mine from Symbol Technologies in NYC said that Mr. Gates paid a visit to their offices within the last 2 weeks.

For those of you who do not know who Symbol is, they are one of the largest players in the wireless computer technology and focus much of their effort in the healthcare business. They extensively use the MS-DOS code for their portable units.

The word is that Gates told them that he would like to see Symbol Technology use the Windows CE technology on their newer units. If Symbol doesnt use WindowsCE then MSFT will have to consider removing their discounted $3/licence of MS-DOS and return them to a $27/licence.

Basic blackmail. And likely the company will have no choice but to comply because that cost increase is not likely acceptable.

I dont think the company would ever admit to this for fear of MSFT reprisals. But what else is new.

Reasons like this are why the DOJ must be successful and stop MSFT's bullying tactics.
