Nice job. The following excerpt from a knowledgeable lurker's email to me speaks to the same issue:

It also is probable (but for this you would need to check with Tow) that these tickets are merely a claim against the mineral rights ... not any actual deed or ownership and that to actually OWN the rights one would still have to go thru some legal work like a foreclosure and getting a clear title and a deed. In that case... none of this land was ever really owned to begin with by either Tow or MTEI. I guess the prime question (and one Tow is answering if he is evaluating these properties) is ..are these mineral rights really worth anything?
