KJ-I'm surprised that 3Com and Cisco didn't get to Fibre channel quicker. It seems that letting SUN , IBM and HP get into Fibre Channel from the Storage system side first that these companies would have an advantage and compete with Cisco and 3COM on what has been their side of the business(networking)?
So now 3 COM decides to finally get into FC from the networking side. Does that mean they will have to compete with Storage companies?
It seems like the SAN's has blurred the lines between Storage and Networking
Will IBM, 3COM, Cisco , HP and other be competing with each other for the same dollars in FC or will they split the business between networking and Storage. I guess it's that space in the middle which seems to be Adapters , Hubs and SWITCHES that these companies will do battle over.
It just seems that these companies will either be competing with each other in the SAN or partnering with each other in way they may not have before? Just a confused how that plays out.
