I think the election result will be interpreted win-win either way:
1) democrats maintain position
No great call for impeachment, 2 more years of government inaction
2) Republicans come in winners
Same-ole discounted impeachment proceedings, add a tax cut that
can be used to fuel a domestic spending boon(doggle) or alternatively add more mutual fund in-flows.

Every event has both upside and downside, the interpretation only depends on the market psychology. From lemons we can make lemonade.
The dow might take a (sell on the) news hit but the mid caps will go strong. New highs by February.
