blake, good topic of discussion.

It seems to me that AT&T is counting a lot on CABLE companies
to transition to the telecom structure of the future (duh:-) ),
so 3Com has a big foot in the door with TCI (owned by AT&T).

We will probably get more details progressively throughout the next several months, but we have to wait for them to announce. 3Com
can't.

As far as what else AT&T is doing to rebuild their own telecom
system, I would guess they need to replace a lot of it to
make it internet compatible. I would think the biggest part
of this is in the "core" and therefore they will give most of
this business to LU (which is their offspring, and has deep
subtle ties). CSCO will help out with their "core" network
development.

Other than that, I am not sure how AT&T will be able to use
COMS in a HUGH way. Other folks on the thread with a better
networking background could probably answer this.

So far, it seems the TCI cable connection with COMS seems to
be the most profitable connectin with AT$T, and many more details
are yet to come out in the future. AT$T/TCI themselves probably
haven't formed a fully concrete plan yet.

JMO...
