CUBE just wanted to give a heads up to the internet crowd, allow us to digest the news- hash it over a bit before Monday? About xmas '99 being a long way off. With the various formats for DVD-RAM '99 may be early. That would be fast compared to what they are saying about digital tv. Good thing those drives are big and cheap like Carnac has told us. I've gotten to the point where I just hope it happens and don't worry about the time so much. I'm hoping that those who have to have it now will be able to and that they are talking about large scale adoption by xmas '99. Better to have it all integrated and working right than rush it out to the users and have system failures. Do they need to give the NLE folks a little head start? First chips go to them to get ready for NAB? Your right, how come no PC's with the CE-DVx by xmas '98! They should mush those digital doggies a little faster!! CUBE needs to play this one just right and make it a mandatory check box item for a PC....Keyboard, CPU, Modem, Monitor, DVD encoder. If you could buy a mid range system that could do this how would they sell the latest PetiumII for top dollar that couldn't.
