Just imagine it, take your computer in for warranty work, and a Repair Tech stole your cookie file. Say you used the "Remember Password" feature that so many sites now have. That "Remember Password" feature uses cookies.

Grab that cookie file and that Tech now has free access to your on-line accounts. Just imagine if there was trading accounts in there as well that gave access by using cookies.

That's why I don't like cookies, there are too many security holes. May as well call that cookie file, your "Public Password File" that any word processor could read.

Taking a computer in for repairs in not like taking your car in to be fixed. Most computers have ALL your personal data that you wouldn't even let your accountant see.

I am not saying that Techs are crooks!! BUT, it is so easy to copy files off your computer when it's in the back room, and you would never know.

I bet most people when they take computers in don't think of this.
