Joe: 8.8M shares short interest out of 350M outstanding is a drop in the bucket. Further, average daily volume is 8.3M, which means that all old shorts can be covered in one day. But new shorts must have come in, creating a totally new ball game depending on how much more shorts and how deep their pockets are. Since COMS is breaking out of a lower base, short squeeze won't play a major role, unlike AMZN, YHOO, AOL and the like, the short interests are usually 15-25% of their shares outstanding on their way up. This can cause frantic short covering and thus "irrational exuberance". I don't see it that in coms, however.
