"There can be an insanity of purpose when pursuing justice or moral vindication. We are at that threshold. We can't let the pursuit of Clinton's impeachment become the noose that hangs us all."

Thanks for writing it better than I could. I have had this visceral reaction to the attempt to deny Clinton legal advice or to compel their testimony about their privileged communication that made me realize something very, very wrong is going on here. This urgent rush to humiliate supercedes all concepts of fairness or issues common sense of where it all could lead. The attorney issue has just been one of a long list of what I call prosecutorial excesses. Use of illegal wiretaps, dishonest and biased "independent" prosecutors, improper grand jury leaks, release of all information that could humiliate, one sided report to Congress which couldn't find the space to include the straight forward testimony by Monica Lewinsky that the President never told her to lie or promised any job for any testimony, are part of a long list of things that troubled me a lot more than underlying "crime". It is clear to me that they are throwing out the rules to even the score for Nixon at long last and to hell with the consequences.
