I disagree somewhat with KJ about where 3COM is headed. I think that 3COM is simply the first of the big networkers to realize that a Storage Area Network is a NETWORK, and a largely untapped one at that. In order to provide any form of end to end solution, how can you leave out the NETWORK that connects the storage? 3COM is after that piece of the pie too, and I don't think they will be the last of the big networkers to realize this. They are just the first. Time will tell if I'm right, but I don't see the big guns leaving this space exclusively to the Ancor's, Brocade's, Vixel's, G2's, and Gadzoox's of the world. Cisco, Ascend, Nortel (Bay), and 3COM didn't get to be as big as they are by ignoring markets with huge growth potential.
