Raging Bull post concerning Belize Press Release - " NEW Belize Government Responds to Phony PR The new government of Belize did not remove the offending press release (which, according to the new Attorney General, was put up without official authorization of the former government by a faction within the former government). No, it also did not publish a rebuttal or a correction. No, what the new government did do, was this: It put the offending AGENCY out of business and REMOVED the whole DARNED thing from the internet. In a 3rd world country, especially a SMALL 3rd world country, stepping on toes can have disastrous consequences. According to the Attorney General (as quoted during a conversation at the grand opening of Ridge Lagoon Estates in September), the offending release posted on the NOW DEFUNCT BIS web page was put there by someone representing local interests in competition with us to build much needed housing. Rather than chase some bothersome fly around the house for hours with a fly swatter, wasting time and making a mess, they just nuked the house, since it was scheduled to be demolished anyway (that web site was the mouthpiece for the former government...) by handling the situation this way, the new government got rid of the problem without alienating the locals it MUST do business with and MUST get along with."
