Hi Lee,
>>>>>A friend of ours, a doctor, stopped and saw a 8 year old still inside while the mother was freaking and weeping. He did the movie hero thing and ran to the burning car, yanked the child out seconds before the car went up in a ball of fire. She sued him for disclocating the kids shoulder. It took over a year before the case was thrown out and his insurance rates went up even though he won.<<<<<
Lee, I agree, the story is shocking, as told, but I think there has to be more to the story. First of all, pulling a child from a burning car does not come under the category of rendering medical care, so the physician's malpractice carrier should not have defended him; second, I am not aware of any state which does not have a limitation on liability for persons in such situations (so-called "Good Samaritan" laws). You yourself are aware that the McDonald's suit has been distorted in the popular press.
