LaserPacific's High Definition Lab Helps Launch HDTV

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1998--Industry post production leader LaserPacific Media Corp. (Nasdaq:LPAC) is playing a key role in this week's historic launch of Digital High Definition Television.
The High Definition Lab at LaserPacific has been busy with projects for studios, networks and producers who are among the first to provide content for HDTV broadcasts.
Emory Cohen, president of LaserPacific, announced another first in the company's long history of technology innovation. LaserPacific is providing post production services on an episode of a primetime series to be broadcast in the new High Definition format.
"On November 18, 'Chicago Hope' will become the first-ever telecast of an episode of a primetime series in digital HDTV. It is a great honor to be part of that first glimpse of the future," said Cohen. "It's a big step in the evolution of television."
Jim Hart, producer of "Chicago Hope," said that at "LaserPacific, we experienced a seamless integration of the High Definition process into our normal episodic process."

"Chicago Hope" is one of several high definition projects finished at LaserPacific over the last few weeks. LaserPacific has been assisting the ABC Television network with its ambitious plan to offer theatrical motion pictures presented in high definition. High Definition film transfer services have been completed for Paramount's "Mission Impossible" and "Home For The Holidays," and for MGM's "The Birdcage," among others.
The first episodes of the Discovery Channel series "Wild Asia" were recently completed at LaserPacific's High Definition Lab. Shot on location in the rain forests and jungles of Asia, "Wild Asia" features wildlife and nature footage which is rendered in amazing and exquisite detail in High Definition.
LaserPacific has also just completed a project for DirecTV, as the El Segundo, Calif., company launches its national High Definition Satellite Service. DirecTV will beam a high definition satellite signal to retailers throughout the country to show consumers the remarkable High Definition image that DirecTV will deliver.
Nov. 6 will mark one of the largest, most dramatic product launches for Japanese auto maker Toyota. On that day, huge high definition screens will be set up in Toyota City in Japan for a special event introducing the new Toyota product line. LaserPacific provided High Definition editing and graphics post production services for the event for Teleproductions Mobile of Toronto.
LaserPacific is providing New Line Cinema High Definition Feature Film Transfer and Mastering Services for their box office hits "Blade," "Rush Hour" and "Pleasantville." LaserPacific will subsequently provide complete DVD Digital Encoding and Services on these titles.
