To Everyone This is a very strong statement for Jim A to make based on his Geophysics Dept. I am also a high tech professional and we are buying ultra sparc's almost EVERYDAY. Some departments in our company have tried to replace their SUNs with PCs, but mostly it turned out to be a major disaster in loss of productivity and eventually every one who bought a PC ended up going back to their old SUN. In my opinion, PCs are far from replacing RISC based machines in scientific and engineering applications. I don't know what direction SUN stock will take, but I know that in high tech companies, Sparcs will not get replaced by Intet based machines anytime soon.
