Metromedia Intl Forms Russian Local Telephone Venture

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Dow Jones)--Metromedia International Group Inc. (MMG) and its Metromedia International Telecommunications Inc. unit bought a 51% stake in Eurodevelopment Ukraine Ltd., a paging company that operates in Dnipropetrovsk and Kiev, Ukraine.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

In a press release Monday, Metromedia International said Eurodevelopment is applying for a countrywide frequency license and has plans to execute roaming agreements in other Metromedia
International Telecommunications paging ventures.

Metromedia International also entered the local telephone market in Russia through a joint venture with Tyumen Telecom, the local telephone company in the Tyumen region, and Rustel, a private
Russian long distance carrier.

The joint venture, called TyumenRuskom, is owned 46% by Metromedia, 51% by Tyumen Telecom and 3% by Rustel.

Metromedia International is a global communications and media company.
