Allen, the NC/OS story of September 1996 is exactly as you have described, and may eventually come to pass. However, this is January 1997, and the NC market is moving ahead VERY rapidly. It is hard to predict what the situation will be in "late" 1997.

My statement was "Once NCI starts down the road with Net/BSD it may be difficult to get them to switch to a different O/S". My other statement was "the NC/OS porting effort inside WIND will have to compete with other projects for engineering resources". The first attempt was to have ACORN do the port in the UK. This has dragged on and on and on. The second attempt is to have some engineering group in France do it (groan). I believe that unless WIND dedicates engineering resources in Alameda to this task it will not be done in time, or as completely as it needs to be. Time will tell.
