Well you hit both points. I said the West can exploit the Middle East for its resources, and where fear exists it is founded on ignorance. I agree both sides are playing this game. At the moment it is to the advantage of the West.
How do you exploit a powder keg? Here is the fear point, the ignorance based fear. We are led to believe that our hands are tied by Saddam and his weapons of mass destruction. If, and this is a very big if, he released such a weapon, and if, another very big if, the weapon hit an inhabited area, lives would be lost. Hundreds? Thousands?
Do we have proof of these weapons. No, because if we did we already have license to take them out. Could they even be launched if they do exist? Not likely. If launched could they reach America without being intercepted? No Way.
Do other Middle Eastern Countries have such weapons. Yes. Have they been warned that the US and UN forbid them yes. Have we done anything to them, nope.
OK, I don't want to minimize our greatest fear. Innocent lives could be destroyed. In fact, mass death could occur. Let's look in the mirror on this one. Millions of innocent children dead and dieing of starvation and disease directly as a result of the sanctions.
Against abortion of unwanted children? How about these children? They are not Saddam loyalists. Why are they being put to death. Is this another of the Charles Hughes object lessons?
Why does it continue? Fear, Ignorance, More Fear, and More Ignorance. Because we are too stupid to see the truth? No, IMO we are being fed with falsehood by the finger waggers. |
