Wrong on the AMD needing faster memory. I use standard 10ns DIMMS with those chips all the time. Good additional info by Spots (thanks Spots!!).

Sorry if this sounds condescending, cause it's not, but are you seating the DIMM straight up and down, and not at an angle, as you may have gotten used to with SIMMS? With DIMMS, it feels awkward, but you actually have to press quite hard to seat them on many mobos. You're comment as to it being hard to get seated makes me wonder if you're not making the same mistake I made in the beginning of using DIMMS. If I am wrong, please excuse the inference.

By the way, check the mobo manual again, since it may require that your one DIMM chip be inserted into a specific slot, usually the number one slot, as defined by the mobo. Some mobos don't have that requirement, ie, you can place the one chip in any slot, but many do require you to start at slot number one.

Good luck again.
