Spots:

You are so funny! Darn that cheap memory! Where is my solder?

Actually, it turns out that NetMedic did not uninstall itself properly. I searched the registry for medic and vitalsigns and found something that referenced 0x0000000. I think that must be it, since everything worked fine earlier.

On that, should I have logging=01 or "00" in my modem's section of the registry if I don't want to use NetMedic? That line comes just before logging path=g:\netmedic. Let's see, whatever did I name that registry backup from April?

Anyway, Spots, your fantasies were wonderfully sumptuous. What a bright and beautiful world you inhabit, where everything falls into place so satisfyingly and there's never a reason to worry!!

Seriously, thanks so much and your preamble was great. I'll let you know if my surmission (?) re NetMedic is wrong.
