I agree that the S&P P/E's are a bit pricey, but they've been pricey for years as the market kept going to new highs... With the flood of 401k money continually flowing into the market we may be seeing a change in the acceptable level of P/E's... Also... We are no longer strictly an industrial economy... We are more of a service economy... Along with this comes the greater efficiencies experienced by business that can be compared to the improved efficiencies we experienced at the beginning of this century when we moved from an agrarian economy to an industrial economy... So now we go where no person has gone before... We're writing the rules as we go along...
