<<Millions are dying and will die all over the world, and we lack the kind of stature required to do anything other than wring our hands.>>
Agreed. I personally cannot change the world or have an impact on very many injustices. I don't have the resources or the influence. The US has lots of resources and influences and yet these too are limited. The US can't correct every problem and injustice in the world.
<<Nor can we take a leadership role and bring about meaningful change in the situations in Africa, Albania, Afghanistan, etc.>>
Agreed again. We just can't fix everything. Resources are needed, influence, cooperation, and the power to change things are required.
The situation in Iraq is one where we are expending all of the resources we have available. We are not fixing anything, we are killing millions of innocent villagers. This is active, intentional and ongoing. These people are as much a victim of Saddams treachery as anyone. They are not our enemies. There is no drought keeping these people from being fed, there is no plague keeping these people from health, it is not our lack of resources that is keeping us from stopping these deaths. It is the reverse. We are using our power, resources, influence, etc. to cause the deaths of millions of innocent villagers.
Sheesh, you can see the evil in causing one or a few people to contract ecoli in the USA. You would use every means to combat it. Start now, because the deranged individual who would do such a thing may be thinking about the senseless extermination of Millions of innocent babies and elderly village folk at the hands of an unsensative and uncaring American nation. Be a part of stopping the American genocide of Middle Eastern villagers.
Terrorists willing to die in their efforts, don't come from nowhere. They come to give their life to notify their oppressors of the injustice they've suffered through. Sometimes they have been fed propoganda sometimes they are reacting to the ugly truth. |
