Yes, Reno assumed full responsibility. The story I read at the time is that the FBI guys who came up with the plan were very, very relieved at that one.
And yes, the assault was really stupid. And Clinton was very slow in getting hold of the government in general, and DoJ in particular. I have criticized him in the past for that, you know, and up this thread too. Partisan hater that I am.
Around here, though, as you can see going up this thread, Waco has become another "who killed Vince Foster" thing, where everything that goes wrong is Clinton's fault. Reno no doubt reviewed the plan, and she should have known better. She didn't come up with the plan, though. You think the lower echelons, who had no confidence in her or Clinton, purposely cooked up a really stupid plan to embarrass them? |
