Gary, I picked up the Reuter's headlines. LGND (through ALRIZ) put out two formal press releases. I believe the Reuter's story was done by a reporter at the conference who was taking notes. I think that LGND puts that info into a "rumor" rather than "news" story. The leptin deal will become news when the agreement is signed. I think the "big boys' love this kind of info and expect them to line up at the buy window. I epxect LGND to put out a formal press release, but investors will do better if they buy BEFORE the news. I am not surprised at the diabetes deal. I had reported this earlier, and now the ALRT268 data looks even stronger than the Targretin data, so I think the Targretin phase II trial will go quickly, and the ALRT268 compound will be kept in reserve (because it still has to go through Phase I which probably won't start until next year). Most of the recent rally has been retail. The big boys would love to see a dip so they can hop on board, but the smart money will be buying instead of taking profits at these levels because it should be rather clear that the good news will continue to come out (in formal press releases).
