Frank, "desert dirts" are my name for gold and PGM companies that have properties which have ore very different than the conventional ores mined by the majors (others use the term "microfine gold" to describe "desert dirt"). Some companies like IPMCF and GPGI have alluvial deposits from old river erosion. These are sometime called the "desert sands". Other companies like CHIP and Naxos have playa clays from evaporation of ancient lake beds. I call both "desert dirts" since they are in the desert Southwest. People believe that these "dirts" have 0.3-3.0+ OPT gold and the same in PGMs. The problem has been to find extraction methods that can economically remove the metals. These properties have thousand of times the potential of Bre-X. Some have believed that "desert dirts" are a scam, but I think they are wrong because the companies are now extracting metal, it's just a matter of time before this whole precious metal industry explodes IMO.
