Notice the "deserved or not." It can take years for reputations to go away. Also, on the reliability part the highest will invariably go to the company with the best yields. I don't think there's any question who that is among the commercial MPU producers. This is the IBM thread and they're the #1 proponent of that theory (high yield = high reliability). Of course, reliability doesn't seem to enter into the picture re very low cost PCs. OTOH, if I were IBM, I'd be thinking in terms of not letting anything mar my reliability record, lest a bad reputation in any computer product cause doubt among potential server and other more important products' customers. Maybe I'm more quality and reliability conscious than the average bear, but I'd rather spend a little more and buy from long-time proven companies. Tony
