Tero, I see I'm supposed to boycott you, but I can't help myself. Just this one more..

"Isn't the fact that the Koreans are showing interest in W-CDMA at all strange?" No, it isn't. If they can get no royalties, that's fine for them. By being part of the big gang, they are more likely to succeed. Keep in mind that the supporters of VW40 and the operators in Korea are different people. The suppliers of VW40 don't mind if they sell all new hardware. I'd be interested to see what the telecom providers who bought the cdmaOne infrastructure think.

Oh, the Europeans have bad blood. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Poor dears. "You wouldn't believe how much bad blood there is towards Qualcomm at the moment in Europe. You say that's just jealousy, I say it's a dangerous backlash building to some unforeseen conclusion." And just what do you think the backlash might be eh? Will they cry? Stamp their feet? Stick with GSM? What they could do is try to come to an economic deal in an adult relationship. A voluntary one between a buyer and seller. Pretty simple really.

"Lucent is the only friend Qualcomm has left" That isn't true either Tero. QUALCOMM has customer friends. They are the second best friends you can have. The best friend is the USA government, which can apply civilizing force. The rest are either friendly licensees or losers. They can all take their pick.

Incidentally, QUALCOMM will need licensees because what they have invented is the 21st century equivalent of the wheel or the internal combustion engine. It is an enabling technology from which a billion applications will derive. Cellphones are a tiny part of the future of mobile and static CDMA.

It is of cosmic proportions. Literally. Did you know that the microwave background radiation of the universe is NOT in fact the residual photon soup from the Big Bang. It is the Gaussian noise from an infinite CDMA communications network, linking the whole universe. We just need a bit more development to plug in!

PS: Now, I'd better go read about results and see if I'm happy or sad.
