"There won't be as much of an effect as last year,
probably, but we'll still see an effect," said Steve Kim,
equity derivative analyst at Merrill Lynch. There is,
according to Frank Russell, $7.9 billion indexed to the
Russell 2000. Even though index fund managers have
developed methods over the years to reduce the damage
the reconstitution effect puts on their portfolios, "there's an
enormous amount of liquidity strain," said Kim.
