CompuCom Selected by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center to Provide InformationTechnology Services

DALLAS, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- CompuCom Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMPC), a leading network integration company, announced today that it is part of a solutions team that has been selected by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) to provide Information Technology Services under NASA's Outsourcing Desktop Initiative (ODIN). The solutions team, led by RMS. Information Systems, Inc., of Vienna, Va., was selected out of seven teams eligible for NASA's ODIN program.

This Information Technology Outsourcing contract is the first of its kind for the Federal Government. It marks the first delivery order issued by NASA under the highly competitive ODIN program. Under the terms of the contract, CompuCom will provide help desk, procurement, distribution and advanced configuration services to NASA GSFC employees and contractors. Additionally, other Federal agencies are eligible to purchase services off of the contract. The potential duration of the contract could span 10 years.

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Tom Lynch said, "This win reinforces CompuCom's strong track record of providing superior procurement and support service capabilities. The combination of our expertise in providing advanced desktop solutions and RMS' extensive knowledge of the agency's information technology infrastructure, gave us a distinct advantage over the other bidders."

Both CompuCom and ODIN team member RMS are portfolio partner companies of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE: SFE) a New York Stock Exchange-listed company (SFE), based in Wayne, Pa.
