Not important WHO the manufacturer is, but that there IS one. Many high tech appliances, components, and accessories are not "made" by the name on the box, but rather by a contract manufacturer. Do you really think someone like H-P spends its precious capital on assembling thousands of 6P Laserjet printers themselves, no matter how popular? They don't. ;>)
