Should I procede as planned with filled up IDE + a one device SCSI chain(future) or keep the drives on IDE ( for cost) and have 3 SCSI devices (total in future) or some other combination? I thought your machine is being built? Proceed as planned..JMHO. Adding SCSI can be done at any time. One up front consideration is onboard SCSI. You can usually save some $ with an onboard controller..downside is you can not take it to the next mobo. Add on SCSI controllers should carry you through a couple of mobos at least. Based on recent thread conversations the tape drive would be the best candidate for SCSI. BTW, Syquest, maker of SparQ is suspending operations. #reply-6256704 Zeuspaul
