Skeet, my point was that after careful investigation, I determined that my kids are presently getting a better education in public schools. Am I being a hypocrite? Depends on whether you think that by paying hefty property taxes, I am already paying for my kids to go to public school.<g> My opinion is that by paying taxes, I pay for my kid's education.
If voucher system passed, taxpayers who sent their private schools would be given a rebate so that they could pay for private schools, and therefore only pay for one system at a time. That would reduce amount available to educate my kids, but I still support it.

I suggest that one issue you omitted is racism. "Safe neighborhood" is code for de facto segregation, so is "inner city." Rather than deal effectively with social problems, even liberals put their kids in private schools, e.g., Chelsea did not attend D.C. public school. I don't blame the Clintons, but I do think they missed an opportunity to make a genuine contribution toward solving the problem.
