Hi Tim - It's the order flow detail that I am interested in. Based on the analyst's estimates for Q4, they seemed to have already wrote this company off. Now we see that there are orders in the pipe line and a bunch more than expected. On CNBC there was some concern if these companies had the cash (or access to floating debt) to pay for all this new equipment....the answer was YES the do!.

The Soundview meeting should provide more insight as to the quantity and delivery schedule of these new orders. With a significant backlog (on the books), CIEN may come into play Q2 next year and may be willing to hook up with a partner if the price is right.

The WorldCom and Sprint re-order is very positive. The CNBC interview stated that both of these companies were very satisfied with their equipment and in fact received better performance than promised. Hence the re-orders. A RBOC announcement would be a huge win but I believe CIEN management will not talk up any "potential orders" as they already got side swiped from AT&T and others.

The final story will be if the analyst's believe the story and begin to raise their earning estimates for next year. Remember the large money managers now hold a sizable amount of this stock. They will continue to hold if they can see growing revenues and earnings down the road.
