Bob, true, but if Steve sells and takes a loss, he has to have some gains to offset it. Further, if he trades often (as it seems most on SI do) he will be generating gains in the other stock he buys to replace MRVC.... If he holds on to the MRVC, he is GUARANTEED not to pay any taxes until he passes the original purchase price (if I remember correctly at 17?). greg
