Interface Systems Announces Release of Document Server; Product to Debut at Xplor '98 Conference
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Interface Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: INTF - news) today announced the release of its Document Server software. Document Server is the only tool specifically-designed to take any incoming print data stream and convert it to any output data stream, whether destined for a printer, a fax gateway, an e-mail system, or a web browser.

''Our Document Server tool is available to meet a very real need in the document distribution industry, particularly in terms of the integration of legacy systems and Internet technology. Adapting an organization's legacy system to accommodate new modes of communication is a real challenge for many of today's companies. With Document Server, a company can ensure that all of its business information is available to all of its users, when they want it, where they want it,'' said Robert Nero, president and CEO of Interface.

''Until now, integrating legacy systems with Internet technology meant organizations had to constantly adapt their existing systems to accommodate these new modes of communication. Print formats like AFP and Xerox Metacode were designed to drive printers, not speed across the Internet to someone's e-mail address. Document Server allows your organization to take advantage of new technologies, rather than spend time figuring out how to adapt to them,'' added David Stagg, Document Server practice manager.

In August of this year, Interface announced an agreement to cross-license data stream management software with Solimar Systems, Inc. of San Diego, Calif. Under the terms of the agreement, each company markets the other's complementary products: Interface's software for converting AFP and SCS data and Solimar's software for converting Xerox Metacode (DJDE) data.

Document Server will premiere at Xplor International's 19th Global Electronic Document Systems Conference and Exhibit in Nashville, Tenn., November 8-13, 1998. Solimar Systems will be exhibiting at the conference, and will present demonstrations of Document Server at booth 1153.

Document Server runs as a service under Microsoft Windows NT (version 3.51 or higher) and communicates to the host through the Windows NT TCP/IP stack, Microsoft SNA Server (version 2.11 or higher) or IBM Communications Server (version 5.0 or higher). Document Server supports all Mainframe and AS 400 AFP and Xerox print data streams.

Inputs include: IPDS, AFPDS, SCS, Metacode, Postscript, PCL, and ASCII. Outputs include: IPDS, Metacode, Postscript, PCL, ASCII, PDF, TIFF, Fax, E-mail, Archive Enable, HTML, and Flat File.
